Arctic Adventure 36 – The Cat Train II

A few weeks ago I wrote about the annual cat train from CB to Hope Bay about 150km away on an ice road over the frozen ocean. This year’s focus was to recover a whole lot of freight that had been stranded at Robert’s Bay when the last barge of 2014 got caught in the ice there.

Last week I saw the vehicles being prepared for the final trip and then saw a few of them coming back late one evening a few days later. They have been busy delivering the containers and items around town and everyone is excited to finally receive their goods ! At the company I work for there were three containers including construction material, vehicle spare parts for the garage, cleaning and paper supplies for the hotel and office supplies for the various offices.
